How do I fix Issue on Quicken Accounting Software?

Are you unable to open Quicken in Windows after you have updated the product? It can happen that after the product has been updated, an issue has cropped up during the installation and is preventing Quicken from opening.


Quicken is not outlined in a manner that it can be used over a network or shared drive. What you can do is backup data files to a network and don’t open or run Quicken on a network. Check that you have installed Quicken on your computer's hard drive.




Step 1: Restart your computer.


Click on the Start button.

Shut down or sign out from your computer and click Restart.

If the issue remains unsolved, jump on to Step 2.


Step 2: Try reinstalling the update patch.


You can get a hold of the list of patches here. You just need to choose your Quicken version year and then download the update patch and then install it.

Restart your computer after installing the patch.

If installing the patch doesn't resolve the issue, continue to Step 3.


Step 3: Try opening Quicken without a data file.


To open quicken without a data file, you need to press and hold Ctrl + Shift on your keyboard and click on the Quicken icon twice. Do not release Ctrl + Shift until Quicken displays a blank screen. This happens when there is an issue with the data file which is preventing Quicken from opening properly. Follow the below-given steps to Restore a backup file.

Then, Validate the restored backup file by going to File > File Operations > Validate and Repair

Check Validate file and click OK

If Quicken doesn't open without a data file, continue to Step 4.


Step 4: Temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall.


Another reason for this issue to crop up is the improper functioning of an antivirus or firewall on your system. The Antivirus can block Quicken from running properly. You must either disable the software or update the settings to include Quicken as a safe program.

If you don’t know the procedure to update the settings, you need to contact your anti-virus/firewall provider.

If the issue is not resolved, jump to Step 5.


Step 5: Remove and reinstall Quicken

Before reinstalling the software, you need to check whether your anti-virus and firewall are disabled.

Reinstall Quicken.

Reactivate your antivirus/firewall.


After following all the above-given steps, if you are still unable to open the program, you need to immediately contact Quicken Customer Service and take assistance. To take their service, you need to call on quickens customer service number and talk to the customer experts.
